Fall Out Boy is out on the “Save Rock and Roll” Fall Tour and stopped in San Diego at the Valley View Casino Center on September 22. This was a really fun shoot, with great action and good lighting. The Photo pit was pretty big and it was easy to get around the one other still photographer and the two video guys. There was also a fan shooting in the pit with a cell phone who I assumed was a prize winner of some type.

The band came out wearing masks for the first song, but they removed them and got down to some serious rocking with the second tune. Patrick, Pete, Joe, and Andy all put on a great show, with Pete and Joe switching sides often, making it easier to photograph them both without having to move much. This really helped stay out-of-the-way of the camera crew.

Now for the bad news… My Nikon D4 is off to Nikon to be fixed. The lens release button fell out of the camera making it impossible to release the lens attached to the camera. That meant that the 20-35mm  f/2.8 lens on my camera was going to stay on my camera for the whole shoot. I did have the D700 with me and had the 70-200mm attached the that body.

The thing is, I am trying really hard to shoot wider and in landscape orientation. It is tough for me, since I usually shoot in really tight and would prefer to spend my time using the long lens.
