Tribute to the Reggae Legends Festival was formerly known as the Bob Marley Day and has been an annual event in San Diego for more than 3o years. This year the festival returned to the Valley View Casino Center and I spent the day photographing some great reggae artists. This festival has a cherished spot in my heart as I used to go every year back in the 80s and 90s so it was a real blast to be up close capturing the show.
Festival founder Makeda Dread of WorldBeat Center Productions makes a tribute to all of the Reggae Legends who have passed but live on in spirit. Artists like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Dennis Brown, Garnet Silk. This year the lineup includes Don Carlos, Third World, Alborosie, Midnite, Dezarie, Sly & Robbie, Horace Andy, Bitty McLean, Tribal Seeds, Tarrus Riley, Dean Fraser, Protoje, Jah9, Piracy Conspiracy.
All images were captured using the Nikon D4 and Nikon D700 with the 24-70mm f/2.8 and 70-200mm f/2.8 lenses. The images were captured on Hoodman USA RAW CompactFlash and Sony XQD memory cards.
