Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks make a fantastic team. They also have a great band. I first saw Derek Trucks play many years ago. I think the first time was during a New Years eve run where the Derek Trucks Band opened for Bob Weir and Phil Lesh. Over the years, I have seen Derek and Susan play together and each time it just gets better.
Last night they brought the Tedeschi Trucks Band to the Balboa theatre in San Diego and I was lucky enough to be there to capture the show… or at least the first three songs.
The Balboa Theatre doesn’t have a photo pit and due to the way the soundboard / lights were set up last night the only way to get from one side of the stage to the other was to go through the lobby. That made it tough to get different angles but hey, no one ever said that concert photography was easy.
All images captured with a Nikon D4 and Nikon D700 with a 24-70mm f/2.8 and 70-200mm f/2.8 captured on Hoodman Raw CompactFlash Cards and Sony XQD cards.
