I had a really great time last night. I got to photograph a show. I got to hear great stories. I got to meet a musical legend, and I got to hang out with a friend I haven’t seen for a while. Last night, Bill Payne, one of the co-founders of Little Feat, and Dennis McNally performed at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach. The show was a combination of Dennis telling stories of his days as the Grateful Dead publicist and Bill telling stories of writing music, behind the scene anecdotes and playing with Lowell George. Bill also played a selection of tunes ranging from new works written with Robert Hunter to the Randy Newman tune “I Think It’s Going To Rain Today”. There was also a Q&A section and a showing of some of Bill’s photography.
It was also a pleasure to be able to hang out with Dennis again. We spent many hours together during my time photographing all those Bob Weir & RatDog shows a few years ago.

Very nice Alan, I’m guessing LED spotlights were in use here? I find they look really nasty myself when trying to process.
yes, 4 LED lights, one in each corner. not great to work with but ok here. I like the black and white versions a little better.
