The band Pepper has been around since 1997 and I finally got to photograph them this weekend. They performed after the races at the Del Mar racetrack during the Friday night concert series. This was not the first time they had been at Del Mar but it was the first time i got to shoot them. This was a fun show and a fun shoot. Right before the show started I was on stage with Halloran from 91X getting the standard crowd shot. I love taking this shot and use the 16mm f/2.8 fisheye to get the full stage and crowd. Since the band setup was pretty minimal, I was also able to get a great shot behind the drums.
Pepper is made up of guitarist/vocalist Kaleo Wassman, drummer Yesod Williams and vocalist/bassist Bret Bollinger. One of the nice things about the setup this year at the Del Mar shows is the way the photo pit is set up with a path leading back to the soundboard allowing photographers to get a range of images including the full stage.
This is particularly fun when the band has a big, clear logo on the backdrop.
Here are the rest of the images. All photos taken with he Nikon D4 and D750 camera bodies and the 24-70mm f/2.8 and the 70-200mm f/2.8 lenses along with the 16mm f/2.8 fisheye as mentioned before.
