Last year I had the pleasure of photographing Save My Soul, an amazing combination of dance, aerial displays, and compelling storytelling. That show went on to win the Best of Fringe 2015. So what do you do as a follow-up? The answer is MYTHOS – Opening Pandora’s Box. This show stars Jennifer Curry Wingrove, Kiona Daelyn, Laura Dasi, Zoe Irvine, Cecilia Marie, and Armando Munoz who bring the story to life.
The show is being presented by the Astraeus Aerial Dance Theatre, and will run for a limited time during the San Diego Fringe Festival 2016. The performance dates are:
- Thursday June 23rd at 2:30pm
- Sunday June 26th at 1pm
- Tuesday June 28th at 6pm
- Saturday July 2nd at 9pm
- Sunday July 3rd at 7:30pm
You can get tickets for the show at https://sdfringe.ticketleap.com/mythos/ and I suggest you get them soon.
The performers effortlessly combine dance and aerial performance into a compelling story that follows the story of Pandora along with Athena, Aphrodite, Persephone, Artemis, and Orpheus. The story of Orpheus, poet and prophet, who charms Pandora, but in doing so gets the Goddesses jealous and they step in to tempt Orpheus away from Pandora. The action is played out across the theater floor and above the stage in a seamless combination of aerial displays and dance moves.
All the photos were taken with the Nikon D750 and the 70-200mm f/2.8 lens.
