On Wednesday, I headed up to the Bay Area to see my friend Mark play at the newly re-opened Sweetwater Music hall in Mill Valley. I had a great time. I got to hang with my friends, I got to hear some great music, I met a bunch of very cool musicians, I got to reconnect with some folks that I haven’t seen in a long time, and I took a few photos.

One of the things that I did while watching the soundcheck was to start isolating the hands of the musicians in my mind. So with a 85mm at f/1.4 on my D3 I got in close and shot a series of hands. I really liked the way they came out and I knew exactly how they were going to be processed in Lightroom.

The actual show was a blast. A lot of fun on stage and off and I grabbed a few frames during the course of the night. I also got to put my cameras down for a while and just enjoyed the show.
