Jay-Z is probably one of the most famous rappers / hip hop artists performing today. He brought this Magna Carta tour to San Diego on December 7, and I was lucky enough to be the only photographer there to capture the spectacle.
Couple of things about this show:
- It was a very big, tall stage. That meant I was looking up at Jay Z the whole time at a pretty severe angle.
- There were three video camera positions that I needed to avoid at all times.
- It was a large photo pit with plenty of space. Really nice, love having space to work.
- I was the only photographer, which was kinda weird. Kept looking over my shoulder making sure that I wasn’t getting in the way only to remember that I was the only one there.
I shot most of the show in landscape orientation because one of the images from this show was going to be used on one of the two remaining interior walls of the venue. I used the 24-70mm f/2.8 on the Nikon D4 and the 70-200mm f/2.8 on the Nikon D700
All images were captured on Sony XQD cards and Hoodman CompactFlash cards.
