There are times when I really love my job. Last night was one of those times. I was hired to photograph Kevin Smith and Jay Mewes as they checked out The Marvel Experience that is going on at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. As a HUGE comic Book fan, getting to hang out at the Marvel Experience was a real blast, getting to hang out at the Marvel Experience while Jay and Silent Bob experience the interactive fun was beyond cool.
My favorite moment of the night happened pretty early on. I asked them if I could get a shot of just the two of them but instead of being in front of the step-and-repeat background that was setup, they looked over at some of the character art that was setup on a different wall. they looked over and decided that they wanted to pose with the Vision. At first I was worried that the extreme uplighting from the spotlights would wreck the image but using the D750 with the SB-910 Sppedlight in TTL mode dialed back to -1 added just enough light to even out the light a little and remove some of the very harsh shadows. Kevin and Jason started throwing out some pretty classic poses and I got a couple of great shots.
I knew the minute that I looked at the LCD on the back of the camera as we walked over to the step-and-repeat area that I had captured something really cool.
Next it was time for them to actually go and experience the Marvel Universe in a whole new, interactive way. My job was to tag along and get some shots of them enjoying the interactive experience. Here is just a taste of that:
You took a photo of them with my husband and I just before going in and you told me to remember your name. Is there a way to get that photo?
