Back in Mach of 2002, I went to my first Photoshop World conference. It was held at the San Diego Convention Center, and featured the best Photoshop Instructors on the planet. I spent two days learning things like Mastering Layers from Scott Kelby, Retouching for Photographer from Julieanne Kost, and Habits of Successful Users from Dave Cross. That weekend (yes it was on a weekend back then) gave me more motivation, more Photoshop skills and more desire to create than ever before. To sum up, it was a great weekend.
Since 2009 I have been honored to be a part of Photoshop World as an instructor teaching on such subjects as Concert Photography, Night and Low Light Photography, Night and Low Light Photoshop Techniques, Pet Photography and Exposure and Composition. It has been an amazing six years and in 2016 I will be back at Photoshop World teaching and all new and updated Concert Photography, and the basics of Night and Low Light Photography which will include a Photoshop tip or two.
You can find out more about Photoshop World at the Photoshop World Website HERE. This year the returning instructors include, Scott Kelby, Joe McNally, Moose Peterson, Glyn Dewis, Dave Cross, Lindsay Adler, and Tim Wallace. New instructors this time around include Dave Clayton, Kristina Sherk, Kaylee Greer, Stacy Pearsall and Justin Wojtczak. There are new classes like the 4 Steps to Meaningful Work with Daniel Gregory and Intro to InDesign with Dave Clayton. There are new pre-cons like the Live Bog shoot with Kaylee Greer and the Red Rock Landscape shoot with Moose Peterson. There new events like the Evening with Gregory Heisler and old favorites like the After Hours Party and Keynote Address.
Now for the best part…
I have two FULL CONFERENCE PASSES to give away so that you can join me in Las Vegas.
That’s right, I will be giving away two passes to Photoshop World, and it’s really easy to enter to win. All you have to do is leave a comment on this blog entry on why you want to go to Photoshop world. There is a small catch, one of the passes is going to go to a someone who has never been to Photoshop World and the other is going to go to someone who has been before and really wants to go back. So please let me know if this will be your first time or if you are one of the thousands who have already been and want to come back.
A huge thanks to Dave Clayton for the banner design, you might want to check out his website and that Glyn Dewis chap as well to see what they are up to.

The fine print. This contest is for a conference pass to Photoshop World. It does not include hotel, food or travel. You need to get yourself to Las Vegas and find your own place to stay..
The contest is over. Thanks for all the great comments and feedback.. winners will be announced on Monday
Funny you should post this, Alan. I got my Photoshop World brochure in the mail and have been debating whether to go or not. I have never been before and would love to go. I have actually already been creating a schedule of what seminars I would attend if I went, of course concert photography is at the top of my list.
I have never been to PS World and would love to go this year. I think it could be the step that gives me the confidence to go full time into my photography. I would love to advance my skills!
Hi Alan I’m dying to go to this and hope I can get that full access pass. I’ve never been and I gotta figure out how to set up in your teaching of concert photography photoshop. Concert photography is my main staple and drives me! I don’t wanna sound like a bandaid but I read your books and you’re my only instructor I’ve ever had and teaching myself. I look up to your work and strive to achieve great photography work myself. Anyways hope I can get that pass and learn more from you. Cheers

I went for the first time last year and learned so much. I have been a huge fan of Kaylee and Dog Breath and think seeing her in action can really help take my rescue photos next level!
I’d love to return to PSW. Haven’t decided if that’s how I want to spend my travel/learning $$ for this year. A free pass would certainly ease that decision!
Hey Alan! You probably don’t remember me, but I met you when I was photographing the Macklemore concert at the Valley View casino center. Getting the chance to talk to you that night was a highlight of my photography career. I have been wanting to go to Photoshop World every year, buts it’s been something I haven’t been able to afford or pull off with the timing of shooting work and taking time off. The best I could do was a pass to Photoshop Live…where I first ran across you! Being able to met and learn from my idols is something I can’t even put into words. Thank you for throwing this opportunity out to your fans. Maybe we will cross paths again, but I promise not to talk your ear off again this time.
i would love to come back! simply meeting you and jay maisel took me out of my shell and sent me on a music photography path i never dreamed of. publishing my 3rd book this year! thank you psw for the networking, teaching and confidence boost.
Alan – I lived in Las Vegas and would go to Photoshop World for years. I moved to San Antonio back in 20 12 and have not made it back to Photoshop World. I would love to go back! ! Plus I’m a fan of your Digital Field Guide book. And I would love to see your latest presentation! !
I would love to go. I would love to attend your concert photography shoot out class but unfortunately it isn’t on the schedule this year.
I was planning on going to Photoshop World last year and got derailed due to an employment issue, so I will definitely be there this year. As a concert shooter, I am bummed that you won’t be doing the concert workshop, but am looking forward to your low light class, and many other things.
This will be my first time attending and I am so looking forward to it. Since I am currently unemployed and trying to figure out how to make more money with my photography, going as your guest would be ideal.
I’ve never been. I think about going every year but end up not going because I’m not sure if it is worth the money and the time commitment. But I’m finding more and more I need better skills to keep up or get ahead.
I’ve been a subscriber to PS User for a long time, and now KelbyOne. I’m a big Alan Hess fan too 🙂 I’ve always wanted to attend Photoshop World. Would love to win this!
This would be cool
I’d love to go again… I was there for the first/only time when it was in DC.
There are several classes I would love to check out including Moose Peterson’s pre-con morning workshop. I would like to get to meet Tim Wallace, I have one of his prints, and we talk on FB occasionally it would be cool to meet in person. The schedule of the classes looks very impressive once again, and I find myself going over it with a “if I did make it this year I would go to…”
One thing I am DYING to get to again is the Portfolio Review. I had my last one with Judy Host and I’ll never forget the experience.
And then there’s the amazing toy store /drool factory called the Expo floor…
I’d love to go again!
I got laid off for the second time in 1.5 years and will not be able to attend PSW this year. This would be amazing. My best friend and I met at PSW in Boston many years ago and we would both love to go!
I’d love to go to Photoshop World this year to get up to speed on all the cool mobile apps that Adobe has – some of which I’ve just learned about on the K1 webcast. I’ve been a KelbyOne subscriber for a long time and have been to 3 PSWs. Always great learning, but the training budget $$ might not stretch that far this year.
I have never been to Photoshop World, sad I know 🙁 I would love the chance to go this year. I cannot imagine anything better than being surrounded by all the inspiration in a field I love!
I would love to return to Photoshop World 2016!!! My first was in Boston 2007 and I’ve been going every year since. I must return since it is my second home. It is the only time I get to see my PSW family that I’ve grown to cherish, adore and love over the years (that includes you too Alan). I walk away with something new and exciting each time. Then I tell other people that have never attended about my experience. They want to or have attended based on my enthusiasm. My year wouldn’t be complete without attending a PSW… Thank You!!!
I can only second what Lavonne said. I’ve been to a few PSW conferences and awesome education is only part of the story. Catching up with PSW friends and making new ones is what makes it a ‘must attend’ conference.
Hi Allen, thank you for this opportunity!! I have never been to this conference, I never thought I was good enough, but after many years of practice and living in Los Angeles for the past 3 years, shooting concerts and creating “out of the box” music portraits, I think I’m ready. I’m excited to take my work to the next level. I know attending Photoshop World conference will give me the knowledge and confidence to do so!!!
Hi Alan, it has been a few years since I attended PSW, and wow, so much has changed. One of the many great things about the conference, is keeping up with the capabilities of the software. But my real favorite part, is the community of the PSW attendees. The generosity of the platform speakers, as well as the folks who are coming to share in the benefit of the information is fantastic.
Sure, Alan I will play! I wasn’t going to go this year but when I say Kaylee Greer’s dog photography workshop I knew I needed to go! It will be PSW #10 for me!
Hi Alan, I went to the Expo one day last year while my wife and I were in Vegas for our 36th wedding anniversary. I really liked going and I wished that I could’ve attended the classes and other events. It would be amazing to attend the entire conference. Thanks for doing the contest and I hope to see you in Vegas!
Alan, I would love to attend PSW2016. I have attended PSW in Vegas 5 years in a row! How is it that we have not yet met? Winning a conference pass would make my first VIP year extra special! I look forward to seeing there!
Thanks so much for making the offer Alan. My first and only PSW was 2014 and it blew me away. I learned so much everyday that my head was exploding with all the “what if’s”, and I met such great people – attendees, instructors and employees of Kelby One. One the great classes I attended was yours – just sayin’. I would love to be able to attend the event again which I believe would allow me to move my photography to the next level.
I went to the last PSW held in Orlando, Fl and took your awesome Concert Photography PreCon class (super fun). I would definitely LOVE to go to PSW again! The classes, the people, and everything was amazing!
This would be my first time attending PSW. I’ve been wanting to go for a few years and truly believe that this would help me move my photography up another notch. Every year, I’ve pushed myself further and this year is no exception. Just reading all these amazing comments gets me excited, yearning for what you have been so generously willing to share with us. The more I learn, the more I want to learn, like an insatiable sponge. I am truly grateful for the light you shine for everyone to see. 🙂
Hi Alan!
I graduated from college three years ago with a film degree. Like many youngins fresh out of school with a liberal arts degree I had a very tough time finding employment in my field. 8 months after graduation I finally landed a receptionist position at a portrait studio in my home town. I had always loved photography and thought it would be a good place holder until I found my dream production management job. Little did I know, the universe had other plans for me. Shortly after starting, I became fascinated and obsessed with the work our studio editor was doing; from the simple to the complex. I quickly invested in editing software and started spending hours and hours each night teaching myself how to do everything our editor could do and more. When the day came that our editor said she was moving away, I meekly raised my hand in our weekly meeting and said, “I… I can retouch… I can substitute in for awhile… If you’d like.” The owner, never thinking of me as anything other than a receptionist was confused, but also desperate, and gave me a shot. I am now the lead editor at the studio and I thank God everyday for the opportunity. I have since began photographing on my own, learning everything I can about the craft. I love retouching, I love editing, I love photography and I cannot see myself doing anything else with my life.
I have never been to Photoshop World and I would be honored to go as your guest and to have the opportunity to continue my education, fuel my passion and creativity, and meet like-minded creatives in Las Vegas in 2016! Unfortunately, the owner of the studio is switching gears with her business and does not see it as a vital investment for me to attend on her dime, but I am determined to go one way or another! (I look at the schedule almost everyday 😉 )
Thank you for the blog post, Alan! Love your work!
I would love to go back to Photoshop World. It’s was a great learning experience, and technically informational. I gathered some great knowledge on lighting techniques as well and picking up some of the latest equipment for photography and post work. I would love to attend and bring A graphic designer friend with me for his first Photoshop World.
Thank you for time and consideration.
Hi Alan! I am a mom of three active boys. I love photography and try to just learn as I go. I am constantly moving through different tutorials and soaking up as much as I can. I am not even close to professional status but more experience may just give me a boost to face my fears and do what I love for a living! I would absolutely consider a trip to Photoshop World for the first time an Amazing opportunity! Thanks for offering the chance of a lifetime?
Hi from Dubistock! On our site, we already have a brief review of he event as you can see here http://blog.dubistock.com/2016… but would love to hear more insights from how was your experience at the conference this year on another post! Wish we could join!
